Sonitrol has a unique history, one that not many may be familiar with. Our beginnings started out as a pest control company in 1960. It is truly at the core of our company.

The Story of Sonitrol
Sonitrol was founded in 1964 by a police officer, for police officers, but we have an interesting beginning to our story as Sonitrol was first a pest control company in the first few years of inception. In the early 1960’s, a pest control expert, Robert Baxter, began to install microphones in walls to listen to see if termites were in the walls and to pinpoint their precise location. On June 16th, 1960, Robert incorporated Sonitrol, a pest control company. He came up with the name from fusing the words sound and control together.
Then, in 1964 Robert partnered with a local police officer, Al Cronk, who owned an alarm company. Al was discouraged that systems seemed to let burglars get away. He and Robert began working together to develop new ideas for an alarm company and Robert invented audio sensors. Thus, Sonitrol became a security company in 1964.
Sonitrol is now a global company and the leader in verified electronic security. There are locations throughout the United States, Canada, and the UK. We partner with local law officers in every location we serve and work together to create safer communities. Together we have 175,000 apprehensions and counting.
Sonitrol’s Partnership With Law Enforcement Officials
When we receive notification that something suspicious is going on at your location, we are able to see and hear what’s happening. This allows us to verify threats before notifying your local officials. Our verifiable technology also means that we have created a longlasting and trustworthy relationship with your local officials.

As mentioned above, every day our officials go to work, they are putting their lives on the line to keep their communities safe.
